Our academic staff consists of 13 professors, 3 associate professors, and 13 research assistants and lecturers. Every year, approximately 80 undergraduate and 25 graduate students register for department. There are several laboratories in the department that provide services for courses such as mineralogy, petrography, paleontology, sedimentology, coal geology, soil and rock mechanics and hydrogeology. The collection room and museum are also open for all students. Optical and ore microscopes, computers and physical testing equipments are available for undergraduate and graduate students.

There is a big collection of the museum for the public domain.

Graduates can find a job in a short period of time thanks to the qualified, effective and strong staff and infrastructure of our department with quality education. Our department serves many public institutions and legal entities for examinations and researches.

Our academic staff and students can benefit from our Geoscience Application and Research Center (YEBİM). This center serve national and international researchers.
